A reader has forwarded news about Shirley Town Centre Partnership and prompted a search. The council website says:
“In both Solihull and Shirley, Town Centre Management has led to the creation of independent Town Centre Partnerships. Both are aimed at driving business vitality to support thriving town centres and each represent a cross-section of local interests.”
The Shirley Town Centre Partnership is an independent body with 40 local business members, co-ordinated by the Steering Group Committee. The Group is a cross functional team which includes representatives from small businesses, resident’s association, churches, police, councillors and scouts.
There is a helpful website, which includes:
- a shopping and business directory, with information on local suppliers and special offers running throughout the year
- Shirley news
- events in Shirley
- a newsletter in which you give your news by adding the details
- a useful pictorial map to help locate different businesses in the long high street – see the section above.
Becki Wood (Manager, Events and Town Centres) notes that there will be an Independents Day fun day in Shirley on 30th June from 11am -3:30pm, to celebrate our local specialist retailers in the town with free entertainment, music and activities.
